French team will have a strong team during the next World Championships in Richmond, Virginia. General manager Bernard Bourreau will bet on two sprinters Arnaud Démare (FDJ) and Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis solutions crédits). Interviewed by Cyclism’Actu, he told about the role of each rider in this selection.
"Our selection will have some leaders. We will have several playing cards. Nobody can tell now what will be the scenario of these World Championships. The Worlds is not like a usual race because riders do not have the same habits with national teams", he explained. "This is a very unusual route including two sections of cobblestones and a small final climb to the finish. But like many teams, we will bet on a sprint finish."
To implement a tactic, Bourreau has not all parameters. "We must have all the compositions of teams and to recognize the course. With the U23 race, we will see how it goes."
"Tony Gallopin and Julian Alaphilippe are often present on these one-day races. About our sprinters, we do not know what will be the best card to play, the route is 260 kilometers long, it is the race that will decide."
