Having been plagued by much bad luck in the first part of the season, Janez Brajkovic finally had some success when he finished third overall in the Vuelta a Burgos. The Slovenian was pleased with his performance and now sets his sights on the Canadian WorldTour races.
The last few seasons haven't lived up to expectations for Janez Brajkovic who has been plagued by a massive amount of bad luck. Most recently, he crashed out of the Tour de Pologne and the Giro d'Italia.
This week, however, he finally took a major result when he finished third overall in the Vuelta a Burgos. The Slovenian secured the result by taking third in the final time trial.
“The first 2k were uphill, but I think I lost time on the next 3k downhill," he said. "At the first split I had the fastest time check. That’s a good result for me."
Brajkovic takes a good result back home to train before a likely late-season trip to Canada and further World Tour races.
Valerio Agnoli finished 7th, Paolo Tiralongo 9th in the final GC. Astana Pro Team easily won the Best Teams Classification at the 2014 Vuelta a Burgos.
