The infamous fistfight between Gianluca Brambilla and Ivan Rovny (Tinkoff-Saxo) during the 16th stage of the Vuelta a Espana will have even bigger consequences for the Italian rider than missing out on a stage victory and being ejected from the event, as he will not participate in the upcoming World Championships held in Ponferrada.
Brambilla made the first pre-selection for the World Championships road race, but according to Italian media national team coach, Davide Cassani made it clear that his latest behavior made it impossible for him to line-up in the event.
“Someone who rides for Italy should be an example for the youth,” Cassini told Tuttobiciweb.
