''Laurinho'', his nickname, suffers from a malformation of the left foot. He recently participated in the Paralympic Games in Rio, winning bronze and silver medals respectively in the road race and the time trial.

With one leg slightly shorter than the other, riding a bike has never been a problem for Chaman who finished 26th at the Volta do Rio Grande do Sul this year and took ninth place in Brazil TT Championships. Chaman will take a step in his career by joining the Funvic professional team.
