With the fifth place in the overall standings by Patrick Konrad, the 25th edition of the Tour of Denmark was a successful one for BORA – ARGON 18. For the 23-year-old Austrian, this was the best GC result of the current season.
In today's final stage Björn Thurau was part of the four-rider group of the day, which was caught by the field only in the last ten kilometers. In the final, the sprinters' teams took over to prepare for a bunch sprint. BORA – Argon 18 prepared the sprint for Phil Bauhaus. In the technically demanding circuit Tinkoff Saxo was able to secure the double victory with Michael Morkov and Matti Breschel. Phil Bauhaus missed another Top10 result by finishing in 12th place.
"The stage was clearly one for the sprinters. Björn was part of the front group before it came to a bunch sprint. The finish lap was technically and topographically not too demanding. The atmosphere with the many spectators was really great - a real sprinter criterium. The team has done a good job and the guys also found themselves relatively well in the final. More than this result simply wasn’t possible today. A stage win would have been great of course, but with the fifth place in the overall standings by Patrick we have a great result – and that’s motivating for the upcoming races", Sport Director Steffen Radochla concludes.
