Andrea Fedi surprised the entire cycling world when he finished second in the GP Plouay, a major classic on the WorldTour. The young Italian earns lots of praise from his team manager Luca Scinto who sees a great future for his protege.
All eyes were on the big classics stars in the GP Plouay but it was an Italian youngster who finished on the podium in the GP Plouay. Andrea Fedi surprised the entire peloton by joining the decisive 7-rider group in the finale before sprinting to second.
Fedi turned professional with the Neri Sottoli team at the start of the season and has gradually become stronger and stronger. His manager Luca Scinto expects the Italian to reach even greater heights in the future.
"This result is logical," Scinto said. "Andrea has trained seriously, he has been racing on a regular basis, something that he didn't do before he turned professional.
He has a two-year contract with us and we will keep him because we have great confidence in him. His body has changed because he has raced regularly and has become accustomed to the effort. He is a very serious rider and the results are coming. It is logical.
"This is a great victory for all of us. We have been doing well in France with Finetto in Limousin and now a second place for Fedi in Plouay. It has a special flavor because Plouay reminds me of when I was racing the World Cup on these roads.
"To take second with our rider from Pistoia is a source of pride for me and [sports director Angelo] Citracca. My team is gritty and determined, like I want it to be. Winning is always very difficult, but one thing is certain: we have all the cards in our hands to be able to do well."
