Bryan Coquard will be back in the professional peloton this weekend. Because of a fracture to the scapula, the French rider has not raced for more than a month and he was not able to go to Paris-Nice, one of his goals for this season. On his team website, he explains that he is more motivated than ever to get back.
"The worst is behind me", the French sprinter told. "Now I have to do physiotherapy sessions to strengthen my shoulder, but it's nothing serious. I managed to ride well to come back even stronger!"
"It was very frustrating to miss Paris-Nice. I was rather on the bike at that time. I tried to be a little late to wach the finish," he added. But he is optimistic : "It's like that, it's part of a career. I have never been injured like that since the beginning of my professional career. It also shows that a career is difficult and we can have setbacks."
He hopes to cross the finish line first at the Classic Loire Atlantique, his comeback race. "As always I want to win and do well but we must remain cautious. It's like a second start of the season. After a month without competition, there is always some doubt hanging, especially compared to the physical condition of other riders. I'll see how the legs respond on these two days, but I hope the freshness that I have will play in my favor."
