Bryan Nauleau completed during the Tour of Beijing (14th) his first professional season, with the colors of Team Europcar. The French spoke to this subject with DirectVélo.
"Many things struck me about the Vuelta. There were really great people. The peloton went very fast all the time. I was told that it was a little less nervous than the Giro and the Tour but there were many leaders and finally rubbed it not bad (smiles). It was also very hot. Even in Gabon, I had not experienced such a heat", he told about his first grand tour, the Vuelta.
Unfortunately, the native of Sables d'Olonne finished the Tour of Spain in the ambulance at the seventh step. He returns to this episode: "We had to switch on top of a climb. A MTN-Qhubeka rider lost control of his bike in front of me I could not avoid it... Several riders fell with me, like John Degenkolb. I hit face first. I broke my nose. Obviously, I did not realize. I was taken directly to the nearest hospital. In the ambulance, I have not thought about the potential severity of injury. I was just very disappointed to leave the Tour of Spain."
Despite this mishap, the 26-year rider retains a positive assessment this season: "It was a really good year." And he is already planning on the next year where he hopes to make results. We will find him in January at the Tour de San Luis.
