The long time trial of the 2015 Vuelta a Espana (August 22-September 13) will be held in Burgos. It will be stage 17 and is schedules for September 9, just 4 days before the finish in Madrid. Furthermore, the capital of Burgos is expected to host the rest day one day earlier and the start of the next stage.

Javier Guillén, director of organizers Unipublic, has announced a time trial of 35 to 40 kilometers with a flat profile for the last week. El Diario de Burgos has now confirmed that it will take place in the Castilla capital on September 9. "Burgos hopes to have a much more ambitious presence in the race and are in negotiations about the capital hosting the rest day off on September 8 and the start of the stage on September 10. This would cause the race caravan to stay in the city for two days and three nights," reveals the Burgos daily.

The time trial will come after several tough stages in Asturias and Cantabria and will be the start of the third week that will bring the race back down to Madrid.

El Diario de Burgos also reports that the Vuelta will visit Avila in the final week and that everything suggests that Medina del Campo will host the start of the next stage that will bring the riders into the Madrid mountains on the penultimate day.
