According to the Spanish media, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team have denies their interest in signing Chris Horner for the 2014 year, despite the rumors suggesting that the team would be a lifeline for the American to save the season and defend his Vuelta a Espana title.
As the team has announced, “our team roster for 2014 is complete.”
Caja Rural management have added, that despite numerous rumors they were never in contact with the 42-year old American or his newly hired agent Baden Cooke.
“We have not been in contact with either him or his management,” a Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team source told Cyclingnews on Monday.
“We don’t know where this story about us trying to sign him has come from, but it’s certainly not from us. It’s not true, anyway.”
After it turned out today that Horner will not sign a contract with Danish Continental squad Christina Watches, the Vuelta a Espana champion remains without a team to ride in 2014 and defend his title.
