Caja Rural - Seguros RGA has announced that the team has reached contract renewal agreements with Antonio Molina, Miguel Ángel Benito and Fabricio Ferrari. All three riders have stayed with the Spanish team since they turned professional.
Molina joined Caja Rural - Seguros RGA in 2014. He’s a strong climber who never backs down from working for his teammates. This year, the 25-year-old Spaniard started out the season on a very strong note, taking part in several breakaways and helping Hugh Carthy to finish 9th overall in Volta a Catalunya. Unfortunately, Molina crashed and broke his collarbone in Route du Sud just as he was enjoying peak-condition. Molina has signed a two-year contract extension with the team.
Benito, too, will continue with Caja Rural - Seguros RGA for two more years. 2016 marked the second year as professional for the 23-year-old rider who’s always eager to attack and try his luck. In the last month of competition this year, Benito was constantly in the breaks seeking victory. He came very close in Coppa Agostoni where he was caught just 150 meters from the finishing line after a courage solo attack.
Ferrari is the only current rider on Caja Rural - Seguros RGA who has been part of the team since its entrance in 2010. The 31-year-old Uruguayan is never shy of sacrificing his own chances for the greater good of the team. This year, he also secured some impressive results for himself as he finished second on stage 2 of Vuelta Asturias and five overall in Vuelta Madrid. Ferrari has renewed his contract with the team for one more year. Later this month, he will take part in the World Championships in Qatar.
