Caja Rural made their 2015 debut at the first race of the Challenge Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Saline-Campos. Francesco Lasca sprinted to 15th for the Spanish team.
Josemi Fernández, team manager, commented on the event: "The race was very flat and there was a very early breakaway. The big teams locked the race. The day was comfortable until the final part where with enough wind to split the bunch. Less than 4km from the finish, there was a crash that split the group. The crash made the finish crazy and there was no chance to surprise from afar. Lasca has tried and fought. We did a good job, 2nd place in the teams standings and are eager to continue fighting. Now comes a day that is less flat and will allow us to find more options for visibility and victory. It has an uphill finish that is perfect for fast riders like Alejandro Valverde. It is never easy, but the team will seek our chances for victory and visibility and the riders will have their moment of freedom and fight to the end."
The next race will be the Trofeo Andratx. The other block of the team will debut on Sunday in France at the Grand Prix La Marseillaise.
