Caja Rural delivered a solid performance at Le Samyn with a very active Lluis Mas and Omar Fraile and with the return of Carlos Barbero after his injury. The was able to complete 125 kilometres without any problems. Kris Boeckmans (Lotto-Soudal) was first to cross the finish line.
Eugenio Goikoetxea, the team’s director, analysed the race: “We were at the front where the race was won, Lluis Mas was in front up until the last 3 kilometres when the others caught up, Omar Fraile did a good race and Barbero had a successful return, [Jose] Gonçalves and [Fernando] Grijalba encountered some issues but overall the results are positive. In the end, Mas was 19th to cross the finish line.”
The team will continue to compete on Belgian territory, participating in Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen from the 6th to the 8th of March. The riding taking part in the race are: Fernando Grijalba, Fabricio Ferrari, Miguel Ángel Benito, Carlos Barbero, José Goncalves, Lluis Mas, Omar Fraile and Ángel Madrazo.

Carlos Barbero is competing again in order to recover his best level.
Amets Txurruka’s injury continues to progress well. Txurruka states “I still have a way to go, but it’s going well”. He has another check-up scheduled for the 18th of March.
Javier Aramendía is still on long-term sick leave. He gradually feels better and better, but he must be cautious. He has another check-up scheduled on the 18th of March.
Pello Bilbao continues his recovery process. The rider is optimistic with the progress of his injury, however he is very careful when moving his right hand. He has another check-up scheduled for the 16th of March.
