Caja Rural joined in on the Basque WorldTour race Clasica San Sebastian today. As a wildcard team it seemed to be important for the team to show the colors of the team, possibly in a breakaway and they managed to do so.
The rider of the day for the Spanish team was Lluis Mas. A second consecutive breakaway in the last two days for Mas as he also saw himself in this role in Circuito de Getxo yesterday. The breakaway was caught before the last climb and it was to be decided among the favorites.
Adam Yates blasted to the line first, though a bit confused about his placement, to take his first win of the season. The best Caja Rural rider was Angel Madrazo coming in as 28th.
"We managed to be in the breakaway with Lluis Mas and it lasted till on the last climb, but we could not do more. Now we are looking forward to the next race," Eugenio Goikoetxea told the Caja Rural website.
