Caja Rural - Seguros RGA has announced that Josu Zabala will turn professional with the team in 2017. The 23-year-old Spanish climber has been riding for the team as stagiaire since August. He comes from Caja Rural - Seguros RGA’s development team where he has been getting impressive results over the last three years.
Zabala has signed a two-year contract and he is the second rider from the U23 ranks to join the professional team next year after Jon Irisarri was announced in the beginning of June.
Josu Zabala said:
“To turn professional is the prize for all the work I have done over the years but most of all, it’s a great opportunity for me to make a living out of what I enjoy doing the most. I feel very lucky and I’m extremely grateful to the team for making this possible for me. Next year, my main goal is to work hard for the team from day one and try to adapt to this new level as fast as possible”.
