Caja Rural - Seguros RGA has announced that Alex Aranburu will join the team on a two-year contract as the third signing for 2017. The 21-year-old Spaniard turned professional with Euskadi-Murias this year where he achieved impressive results throughout the season.
As a former cyclo-cross rider, Aranburu has a very complete profile. The Basque rider is particularly strong in undulating terrain, which he proved for the Spanish national team in Tour de L’Avenir this year with several good performances in the final hard stages. Aranburu also took part in the recent U23 European Championships, where he finished in 17th place within the select group of riders fighting for the win.
Alex Aranburu said:
“Signing with a big and important team as Caja Rural - Seguros RGA is another step forward in my career. I will be able to get a good race program with the possibility to ride Vuelta al Pais Vasco, which would be a dream for me. I’ve always wanted to turn professional and last year, I got that chance with Murias, which I’m very grateful for. Now, thanks to Caja Rural - Seguros RGA, I have the opportunity to continue to grow and learn as a rider”.
