Caja Rural-Seguros RGA recruits Alberto Gallego. Alberto Gallego, the 25 year old rider (23/05/90) from Don Benito (Extremadura) is Caja Rural-Seguros RGA’s first reinforcement for 2016.
The young climber comes from the Portuguese team Radio Popular. After his outstanding performances in the Amateur category, becoming number 1 in the ranking, he made it into professional cycling in 2014.
Gallego has had a wonderful season and obtained good results. Always combative and on the attack in 2015, he proved his worth in the Route du Sud when Contador attacked, Quintana rose to the challenge and only Gallego was able to follow them.
Juanma Hernández, Manager of the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team, believes that Alberto Gallego "can make very valid contributions to the team. His profile fits well with our team, he is a courageous rider who climbs very well and is one of our national cycling’s great young assets. He has been proving his talent since his Amateur days and, this year, has experienced a significant leap in quality".
Alberto Gallego was clearly very pleased with this new opportunity.
“I want to stay focused and finish the year in the best way possible with Radio Popular, they gave me my first opportunity and I will always be grateful to them for allowing me to continue to grow and be able to make it into such a team as the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA.
“Next year, I want to continue learning and improving and making the most of the opportunity that they have given me. I am certain that I’m going to the right place in order to continue growing as a rider.
"This recruitment is a joy and a motivation for me, all I ask is that they respect my injuries and my health. I hope I get to live out my dream of competing in the Vuelta a España. Luckily, I know many of the riders and people in the team, such as Juan Carlos Vázquez.
"I’m really looking forward to embarking on this new adventure but, before I do that, I would like to try to finish up in the best possible way with my current team”.
