After a break of seven years, the Tour of Valencia is back this 2016 with a demanding course of five stages. From February 3 to 7 , the race will provide opportunities for trialists, climbers and sprinters.
Caja Rural - Seguros RGA participate with the following riders: José Gonçalves, Domingos Gonçalves, Antonio Molina, Jaime Rosón, Hector Saez, David Arroyo, Ricardo Vilela and Eduard Prades.
The opening stage is a short but hilly 16.2 km time trial that will establish the first important differences in GC. Climbers get their chance in the second stage, with a summit finish ahead of the foreseeable sprint of the third day. The queen stage will come on the fourth day, over the always feared Alto de Xorret de Cati, located close to the linerise of just 4.9 km with an average gradients of 9% and various parts which exceed 20%. From the top, only 2 km to the finish. This will almost certainly decide the winner of this test. The final stage will conclude with a circuit of 2.5 km in the center of Valencia which riders must complete 10 times.
Sports director Josemi Fernández says: "This is a tough and demanding race with a challenging opening time trial with climbs and dangerous descents in which we must be vigilant. We try to be protagonists in the race, looking for breakaways. The principle objective is to fight for stages with José Gonçalves and Eduard Prades and look for a good overall result with David Arroyo and Ricardo Vilela. "
