Fabian Cancellara has already revealed his aspirations to beat the hour record on the track, but now there is a proof that those words of the Swiss Champion should be treated seriously, as he spent some time at the velodrome of Palma Arena in Mallorca, during the Trek Factory Racing training camp being held on the Spanish island.
As it was revealed by Diario de Mallorca, Cancellara has spent last weekend on testing some equipment and undergoing initial trainings on the track in order to prepare himself to his one hour record attempt, where he was observed only by few witnesses, including former Spanish cyclist and Olympic Champion, Joan Llaneras.
Llaneras confessed, that even though it is still not decided whether Cancellara’s attempt would be held this or next season, even now the Swiss was able to beat his own track records.
Former Spanish rider also reveals, that Cancellara seemed to be very satisfied with the quality of the infrastructure he found in Mallorca.
“Cancellara really liked the Palma Arena, considering this velodrome as a very fast one and not ruling out the possibility of placing his one hour record breaking attempt here in Mallorca,” Llaneras told Diario de Mallorca
“After having very positive feelings while undergoing tests here, Cancellara included Palma Arena to few other locations which could possibly host his attempt, in the likes of the Aguascalientes velodrome in Mexico and the one in Moscow, where the one hour record has been broken last time,” he added.
