The Swiss Cycling Federation has confirmed on Thursday that Fabian Cancellara won’t participate in the World Championships individual time trial, as the classics specialist decided to focus exclusively on the road race.
Cancellara made it clear earlier this season that riding in the rainbow jersey remains his biggest goals before hanging up his wheels, and so the Trek Factory Racing rider decided to sacrifice his participation in the ITT in order to attend the road race in best possible shape.
The 33-year old Swiss currently participates in the Vuelta a Espana as his main preparation event before the World Championships road hace, held in Ponferrada on the 28th of September.
