Fabian Cancellara will be at the start of the Eneco Tour. The organization of the Belgian-Dutch stage race received the news of his employer, the Trek Factory Racing Team. The Swiss prematurely left the Tour de France.
"For me this is the start of the third chapter of my season: preparing for the World Championships in Spain," said Cancellara "After the classics and the Tour, this is my third goal of the year and the Eneco Tour is perfect for starting. More than 1000 race miles will give my legs a flying start in the direction of Ponferrada. "I am pleased to once again be racing. Everybody knows I love the atmosphere in the Belgian races. Also in the Netherlands, its always nice to be there, though I have not raced there since the Amstel Gold Race in 2011, the route is quite attractive again: rides for sprinters, a short time trial and three rides that look like the spring classics. It will be a tough week, that's for sure!"
