Cannondale-Garmin slotted into 12th place on the Tour de France stage nine team time trial on Sunday. The hilly 28 kilometer route tested teams with an uneven gradients, crosswinds and an uphill finish. Andrew Talansky led Cannondale-Garmin across the line in Plumelec, stopping the clock at 33:44.

“The team time trial was extremely good for us,” said sport director Charley Wegelius. “I was pleased with how the guys rode. We didn’t many any real mistakes. We executed well and rode a strong race – even more so in light of the efforts from the yesterday.”

The team time trial calls curtains on an eventful first week of the Tour de France. A rest day awaits battered bodies before racing resumes in Pau on Tuesday. Andrew Talansky retains his hold on 19th overall heading into the second week.

“It’s going to be a different race now from here on,” said Wegelius. “We plan on taking all the chances we can."
