For te first time ever, Cannondale will line up in a Norwegian race when they take to the start of the Tour des Fjords later today. Alessandro De Marchi and Marco Marcato will use the race as a stepping stone towards the Tour de France while young climber Davide Formolo will continue his rise through the professional ranks.
For the first time in its history, the Cannondale Pro Cycling team will attend a race in Norway. From Wednesday, May 28, through Sunday, June 1, the Green Machine will ride the five stages of Tour des Fjords. Starting in Bergen and finishing in Stavanger, the race includes five mixed road races in the amazing Norwegian landscape.
Cannondale Pro Cycling selected six riders, led by Marco Marcato and Alessandro De Marchi. Both the riders finished the first part of their season at Liege-Bastogne-Liege – the Tour des Fjords will be a good chance for them to stand out and to start the road to the Tour de France, next big events of their season.
Young gun Davide Formolo, one of the most positive wonders of the team, will attend the Tour of Fjords after the 4th place in GC at the Tour of Turkey, trying to make a new quality step. Matthias Krizek was also in Turkey and In Norway will be a reliable domestique as will Jean-Marc Marino. Alberto Bettiol will be the last rider of the team.
Cannondale Pro Cycling will be led by team director Gilles Pauchard.
