Last year Miguel Angel Rubiano won the Colombian road race championships. Next year he faces a tougher competitions as he will up against several European stars but together with teammate Alex Cano he still aims at keeping the jersey within the ranks of the Colombia team.
The Colombian National Champion’s jersey which was won by Miguel Angel Rubiano on April 11, will be back for grabs on February 8, 201 5in the Colombian region of Antioquia (Medellin-Mall Llanogrande, 172 km), and the 30-year-old athlete from Bogotà will be among fiveTeam Colombia-Coldeportes’ riders who will try to keep the jersey within the only South-American UCI Pro Continental Team.
Taking the start of the road race, much earlier than usual in the calendar to give more athletes riding in European teams the chance to compete, will also be Jonathan Paredes, Edward Diaz, Darwin Pantoja and, above all, Alex Cano, who values this race a lot, and along with Rubiano will join the list of the “big names” targeting the Tricolor jersey. Nairo Quintana, Carlos Betancur, Rigoberto Uran and former Team Colombia-Coldeportes rider Esteban Chaves are among the riders who have announced their participation.
Colombia-Coldeportes’ season debut will happen at the Tour de San Luis, in Argentina, from January 18 to 25. The Escarabajos’ line-up will be announced in the next few days.
