Cannondale leader Damiano Caruso took a fine 3rd place at yesterday’s individual mountain time trial to Mori-Polsa at the Giro d’Italia.
“Obviously I’m very pleased,” Caruso said afterwards. “I really like mountain time trials. My only thought was to give everything I had, and when they informed me that I had clocked a good time at the intermediary, I simply tried to push even harder. It would have been nice to have taken a win for the team but, nevertheless, I’m very satisfied with this achievement.”
Caruso finished 1’20” down on stage winner and race leader Vincenzo Nibali (Astana).
