Jonathan Castroviejo has had a very special 2016 season. The Spanish rider sustained a bad injury at the Volta ao Algarve, but in the second half of the season he was able to return to the best level, winning bronze in the time trial at the World Championships in Doha.
Speaking at Subiendo Puertos, the Movistar rider talked about the long journey that allowed him to fight with the best in Qatar:
"Already at the last Worlds, I did a good time trial. After the accident this year, I had lost hope of doing well but in all of the latest time trial I did well and that gave me confidence. "
"When you are on the podium or win, it gives you extra motivation. You always have the desire to try to get more and try to do better. The result in Qatar gave me great confidence because the course did not suit my skills and I managed to get a medal.”
Castroviejo is ready for 2017 and expects to start his season at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and then do the Volta ao Algarve where he sustained the bad injury in 2016, and Tirreno - Adriatico.
