Madison Genesis has announced its 2016 team as well as a brand new official partnership with Mark Cavendish and his CVNDSH Scholarship in association with his new 2016 team, Dimension Data.
In addition to revealing its riders for next year, Madison Genesis for the first time has formed an exclusive partnership with world-renowned cyclist, Mark Cavendish. The partnership with arguably the greatest sprinter of all time will see Cavendish dedicate some time to the Madison Genesis team to help young riders develop into accomplished World Tour competitors. Central to the partnership, Cavendish will give some of his time to the Madison Genesis riders that will include mentoring, training, road craft and race knowledge.
Current Team Manager at Madison Genesis Roger Hammond is to co-manage the new-look team while also working as a sports director at Dimension Data.
Mark Cavendish said of the new partnership:
"Without the support of key people like Roger Hammond in the early days of my career, I would never have made it to the top as a pro rider. It was the advice, guidance and assistance that I received that kept me on course to achieve the pro team ambitions I had. This is the perfect opportunity for me to repay the sport I love with that same support and guidance for these young, talented riders. There’s no better platform to do that from than through a team I really believe in like Madison Genesis.”
Talking about his role and looking ahead to the new season, Roger Hammond said:
"I’m so proud that Mark will join Madison Genesis on the next phase of the team’s journey. I have known Mark a long time, his knowledge and passion for the sport is second to none, combined with his enthusiasm to help nurture and support the up and coming generations, I could not have ever hoped for a better person to look to the future with team."
Dominic Langan, Madison Genesis team owner, said:
“From inception it has been the objective of the Madison Genesis team to recognise and help develop young up-and-coming talent and to help them on their way to becoming world class competitive cyclists. For the three years of the team, under the superb stewardship and tutelage of Roger Hammond, we can celebrate many successes and take great pride in our team ethos and in our achievements. Our partnership with Mark Cavendish and his commitment to the Madison Genesis team will give a massive boost to our riders and further enable us to give them the absolute best support possible in their quest to realising their WorldTour aspirations.”
