Mark Cavendish had a clear sprint victory in the fourth stage of the Tour of Switzerland, which has given him great confidence before the Tour de France, but despite his hunger for even more success he sees Peter Sagan as the favourite for the green jersey.
"This victory certainly gives me confidence for the Tour. Though I do realize that Sagan does not ride in Switzerland after most of my Tour rivals."
Cavendish has 25 stage victories in the Tour, but he has won only once the green jersey. The past two years, Peter Sagan was untouchable in the battle for the green. He picks up points where pure sprinters should drop out. Cavendish expects this to remain the same and expects the Slovakian to still be overwhelming favourite to take the Jersey.
"With Sagan there winning green again will be very difficult. He can not sprint like me, but he is very complete."
"That's why I stand by my first goal and that is to win the opening Tour stage and as many possible stages after that. Thereafter we will see if the green jersey is within the possibilities and if so, we will try everything to get it."
