CCC Sprandi Polkowice won two medals in last year’s Polish Championship. The team is also aiming big this season. The nationals will kick off on June 24th with a time trial and will end with a elite road race in Sobotka.

"Last season we had a very successful Polish championships. Bartłomiej Matysiak won gold in the road race and Mateusz Taciak bronze in the time trial. This year we also want to bring medals home, both in the eite and U23 category  where Piotr Brożyna will be defending his title," Piotr Wadeci, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, explains. "The road race in the nationals is always unpredictable, but we have a strong team and our goal is to control the situation on the course.

"In the time trial, two big favorites who claimed gold and silver in the past three years, Michał Kwiatkowski and Maciej Bodnar, will not participate. Therefore the race for the title is open and our riders have proved that they are strong in the individual competition."

The Polish Championship will start on Wednesday (June 24th) with a race against the clock in the town of Strzelin. The U23 riders will cover two 15-kilometer laps (30 kilometers in total), and elite riders have two 22-kilometer laps (44 kilometers in total) on the menu. Mateusz Taciak (winner of the ITT in Bałtyk – Karkonosze Tour) and Adrian Kurek (member of the winning team in TTT during Coppi e Bartal) will take part in the elite race, while Michał Paluta (Polish Junior Champion in this discipline from 2013), Jakub Kaczmarek (6th in the TT at Bałtyk – Karkonosze Tour this year), Patryk Stosz, Eryk Latoń and Piotr Brożyna will represent the orange colors in the U23 category.

On Saturday, June 27th, the U23 road race will be held in Sobótka and all of the young CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders are going to participate. The next day, to wrap up the 5-day competition, elite riders will fight for the white-red jersey. The entire Polish CCC Sprandi Polkowice squad will show up at the start line, including Jarosław Marycz. The 28-year old is returning to racing after a face injury sustained at the Giro d’Italia.

The riders will race on am 18-kilometer undulating circuit around Sobótka. The wspoirs will have 10 laps to cover (180 kilometers in total) and the elite riders 13 (234 kilometers in total).
