CCC Sprandi Polkowice will return to the Tour de Suisse this season. The riders in orange received a wildcard invitation to this event for the second time in the row.
"The Tour de Suisse is one of the most prestigious stage races in the calendar. It belongs to the UCI World Tour and for many riders it is the final test prior to the Tour de France. That’s why we can expect that the level of racing will be extremely high. We had a chance to take part in this event last year and we are very proud that we will be able to race in Switzerland also this season," sports director Piotr Wadecki said.
This year’s edition consists of 9 stages (1320km in total). It will start and end with a time trial. The prologue in Risch-Rotkreuz will be 5km long and on the last day of racing the riders will cover a distance of 38,4km. The organizers have planned a few demanding, hilly stages. One of them stands out. Stage 5 is 237km long. The finish is located in Austria on the top of the 15km ascent which ends at the foot of the Rettenbach Glacier. The 12-14% slope will make a lot of the riders suffer.
The Polkowice-based team participated in the Tour de Suisse in 2014.The squad made their presence known and twice had a representative in the breakaway of the day (Mateusz Taciak, Jarosław Marycz). In addition to the riders who participated last year, three other CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders have done their race in their careers: Grega Bole, Stefan Schumacher and Sylwester Szmyd.
