The maiden Polish Pro Continental Team, CCC Polsat Polkowice, can add another important event to their 2014 racing calendar, as the last squad sporting orange outfits in the professional peloton was granted an invitation to participate in the Amstel Gold Race, held on March 20th.
According to the official announcement from the team’s management, CCC Polsat Polkowice were granted an invitation today and the Amstel Gold Race would be their only stint during the campaign in Ardennes, however, their schedule is full of cobbled races including Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, Ronde Van Drenthe and De Weiert Dwars door Drenthe.
The invitation of CCC Polsat Polkowice to participate in Amstel Gold Race comes as no big surprise while acknowledging that their leader, experienced Italian Davide Rebellin, won the first of the Ardennes Classics in 2004.
The Polish World Tour squad currently participates in the Vuelta a Andalucia, where Rebellin has shown some splendid disposition on the second stage of the race, finishing third behind Valverde and Mollema in the uphill finish.
Apart from Amstel Gold Race, CCC Polsat Polkowice so far received invitations to three other World Tour level events: Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, the Tour de Suisse and rather obviously Tour de Pologne.
