CCC Sprandi Polkowice are looking to make the jump from Pro Continental to WorldTour sometime in the foreseeable future. According to Polish cycling website Rowery.org, the team wants to make a request within two to three years for a WorldTour license.
Sponsor CCC - a Polish footwear manufacturer - wants more money to invest in cycling. The company is in talks with the team about the future.
CCC Polkowice Sprandi - which include Grega Bole, Sylwester Szmyd, Stefan Schumacher and Davide Rebellin under contract – has an impressive program, although this has been achieved thanks to wild cards from race organisers. The team is welcome in the Giro d'Italia, Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Catalonia and the Amstel Gold Race. if they were a WorldTour team, they would automatically be granted access to these races.
"Our goal is to become a part of the World Tour in the future," says team manager Piotr Wadecki. "That does not mean that we do not feel good in the second division. We received many invitations to prestigious races. But our goal is to go where the top teams in the peloton belong," he explains.
