CCC Sprandi Polkowice set third best time in the team time trial which kicked off Czech Cycling Tour (2.1). The opening stage was 20-kilometer long. It featured one small hill in the first half of the race and the rest of the course around Unicov was flat.
Nikolay Mihaylov, Josef Cerny, Jan Hirt, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Piotr Brożyna, Sylwester Szmyd and Stefan Schumacher, who are representing the orange colors in Czech Republic, rolled down the start ramp at 17:40. They arrived at the finish exactly 24 minutes later. They were unable to better Bora-Argon’s 18 time, but they were only 12 seconds back and at that point they took 2nd place.
There were only two teams left on the route – RusVelo and UCI World Tour team Etixx-Quick Step. The latter recorded 23:38, which was the best result of the day. It meant that CCC Sprandi Polkowice finished third, 22 seconds behind.
Zdenek Stybar, who was the first from the winning squad to cross the finish line, became the leader of the race.
