CCC Sprandi Polkowice will take on the second UCI World Tour stage race of the season - Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - with a climbing line-up.
"We have great memories from Catalunya. Last year Maciej Paterski claimed first win in a World Tour event for our team. We are hoping for a repeat this time," Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, explains. "There are two stages with mountain top finish on the menu and this is why we have lined up good climbers such as Victor de la Parte, Davide Rebellin, Sylwester Szmyd and Jan Hirt. There is no individual time trial so everything will be decided in the mountains. Our climbers are at the similar level, so we will wait until the first mountain stage to see who is showcasing the best form at the moment and then determine who will be the leader for GC. "
Other solid climbers, Łukasz Owsian, Felix Großschartner and Marcin Mrożek also made the roster for the race. Mateusz Taciak’s task will be to help his teammates on flat and undulating stages and to try get into the breakaways. Last year’s stage winner Maciej Paterski is recovering from the knee injury suffered at the Strade Bianche and he won’t start in the Spanish race.
It will be the third consecutive time at Volta a Catalunya for CCC Sprandi Polkowice and fourth in total.

Victor de la Parte, Davide Rebellin, Sylwester Szmyd, Jan Hirt, Łukasz Owsian, Felix Großschartner, Marcin Mrożek, Mateusz Taciak.
