The CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders are heading into three HC Italian events. They are all build-up events for the UCI World Tour classic, Il Lombardia.

Before “The Classic of the Falling Leaves” the Polkowice-based squad will take part in Tre Valli Varesine, Milano-Torino and Giro del Piemonte. A high quality lineup is expected at the start of all races as many riders will use them as a final preparation for the Tour of Lombardy.

Tre Valli Varesine wil be held also in that region, on a course from Saranno to Varese. After covering 77 kilometers, the peloton will do nine 12,8-kilometer laps. They feature afew climbs, but the route shouldn’t count out fast riders. Last year Simone Ponzi finished 4th. Davide Rebellin also enriched his palmeras there, by winning the race twice (1998,2011).

There are only two ascents on the route from Milano to Torino, but they are both located in the finale and should whittle down the group drastically. The final challenge is 5-kilometers long and very steep (max. 14%, avg. 9%). Thus, the race is suited to climbers.

Rebellin has stood on the podium in this race as well, taking 2nd in 2003.

The profile of Giro del Piemonte doesn’t look that scary although it still may be very selective if the pace is high. The last 20 out of 207 kilometers are fairly flat and the final meters are slightly uphill (4,2%). Both sprinters and classic riders will be battling for the victory.

CCC Sprandi Polkowice has selected 11 riders for those 3 events and for every race a different 8-man line-up has been chosen. The 11-man group includes Davide Rebellin, Simone Ponzi, Maciej Paterski, Felix Grossschartner, Victor de la Parte, Jan Hirt, Łukasz Owsian, Sylwester Szmyd, Branislau Samoilau, Marcin Mrożek and Adrian Honkisz.
