IAM's cobbled classics campaign has been hit by another setback. After losing Heinrich Haussler in the Tour of Flanders and Martin Elmiger withdrawing from Paris-Roubaix, the team has now lost their leader for Sunday's Paris-Roubaix as bronchitis makes Sylvain Chavanel unable to start the race.
Sylvain Chavanel will not participate in Paris-Roubaix for his IAM Cycling team, which will be led by Heinrich Haussler this coming Sunday.
The five time French time trial champion will be replaced by Matteo Pelucchi. Chavanel is suffering from bronchitis and has great difficulty breathing, which will require rest and the proper treatment.
The breathing problems already hampered Chavanel in the Tour of Flanders and spell an end to what has been an unfortunate classics season for the strong Frenchman.
