After his first season at the WorldTour level, Johan Esteban Chaves has set new goals for himself. Currenly he is enjoying an active rest in Colombia while he is already focusing on the upcoming challenges with Orica-GreenEDGE. He has already resumed training in order to end the season with a good shape before he joins his team for a training camp in Australia.
"It was a very good year. Being in one of the best teams in the world is a great joy. As expected, it was quite difficult to face the first six months of the season. Then the last six were quite good and rewarding," he said in an interview with the Colombian Federation.
"We are doing fairly easy workouts towards what will be the 2015 season," added the talented rider who has returned to his home country or the holidays after planning the first part of his season with his team in Italy.
"We talked a lot about 2014 and what is coming in 2015. We still have no clear schedule. We will have a training camp in January but the team won't do the Tour de San Luis," said the Colombian who is set to lead his team in some WorldTour races.
The first training camp will be held in the second week of January in Spain. On that occasion, the coaching staff wil decide the scedule for the riders. "We will take a closer look at the schedule for the coming year," says Chaves who ended his season with a superb third place in the Tour of Beijing."
"I always like to take things easy. Let's see on a daily basis how things are. I hope that my body will be more mature this year and I an also looking forward to having been at a competitive level for much longer," he says.
