Chris Horner won't finally take retirement. The winner of the 2013 Vuelta would have found a team for next season and according to his agent, he will ride for an American team.

“Chris has signed with a U.S. team. It will be announced very soon”, the Australien Baden Cooke told VeloNews. 

Without a contract at the beginning of 2014, Chris Horner agreed in January to sign with Lampre-Merida. In April, as he prepared to compete at the Tour of Italy, he hit by a car in a tunnel, on the shores of Lake Como. He suffered from a punctured lung and fractured coast. He managed to recuperate physically to compete in the Tour de France, he finished in 17th place despite bronchitis. Then he finished second at the second Tour of Utah, in August. He is then brought to defend his title at the Tour of Spain being leader of his formation. However, a controle before the Vuelta showed a fall of his cortisol levels resulting from a cortisone therapy permission to treat his bronchitis. This rate, when it falls below a certain threshold, contravenes the rules Movement For Credible Cycling (MPCC), whose Lampre Merida is a member. Horner fired of the selection one day before the departure.
