This Tuesday, we learned that Chris Horner was not retained by Lampre Merida. His agent, the former rider Baden Cooke, says that the American is in discussions with several teams. CCC Polsat Polkowice Sprandi recently confirmed that it would not engage him.
“There is a team in Europe that is a possibility,” Cooke said according to CyclingTips. “We are just waiting to hear back from that, and otherwise he has got a few options in America. If Europe doesn’t pan out, he will be based in America. The priority is to focus on Europe first and see if that happens.”
Cooke did not reveal the team name, but it could be that it is a Pro Continental team.
The 43 year-old rider, who won the Vuelta a Espana in 2013, lived a difficult year, between illness and injury. “I feel really bad for Chris. Everyone is forgetting that he was almost killed by a car this year”, Cooke added.
