According to Ouest France, the former Europcar Vicent Jerome has decided to end his career. The Northern Classics specialist was not retained by Jean-Rene Bernaudeau whose team will be known as Direct Energie in 2016. 

Unable to find a new team, Vincent Jérôme has decided to retire at just 31 years of age.

“It's always a shame to end like this ... Whether it ends today or in two years, the purpose is the same," he told the Ouest France newspaper. 

Jerome turned pro with Bouygues Telecom in 2006 and has known that his contract would not be renewed since September. He won the U23 Paris-Tours in 2004 before joining Bouygues Telecom as a stagiaire in 2005. In his second year as a pro, he won the Tour du Doubs. In 2011, he took his greatest victory in Lannilis at the Tro-Bro Léon and he has been one of the best Europcar riders in the cobbled classics. 

Jerome admits that he soon has to decide about his future career choice of career as he admits that "I know that it will be harder in the end of February when the semi-classics begin on TV.”
