Nacer Bouhanni emphasized his intentions to return to the Italian Grand Tour next year while attending the official Giro 2015 presentation in Milan on Monday. Cofidis manager Yvon Sanquer corrected shortly afterwards, however, that it is very unlikely that the French Pro Continental squad will bid for a wildcard invitation to the season’s opening three-week again.

Despite having won four stages and points classification in the 2014 edition of the Giro d’Italia, Bouhanni probably won’t be provided with a chance to return to the event next year and try himself on a sprinters-wise friendly route.

Cofidis manager revealed, however, that the team will bid for a Milano-Sanremo invitation. Italian monument would serve as a first big objective of the 2015 season for the 24-year old Frenchman and certainly make up for his absence this year, which ignited his internal conflict with Arnaud Demare at FDJ.

“Our interests in Spain oblige us to ride the Vuelta and you have to be realistic: we’ll only have a roster of 25 riders, with four neo-professionals, which wouldn’t allow us to honour the Giro as it deserves,” Sanquer told L’Équipe.
