A superb Sonny Colbrelli conquered the 2nd place in Tour of Utah Stage 5 on acity circuit in Salt Lake City.

In the finish at the top of a steep climb, Colbrelli was close to winning his first race of the season, crossing the finish line just behind winner Micheal Woods (Optum Kelly Benifts) who surprised everyone with an early attack at the bottom of the final climb.

Stefano Pirazzi animated the stage. He was present in the early breakaway and very active in the final laps.

”Although the finish was demanding, I know that I have a good shape and after the missed opportunity of yesterday, I was really focused on doing better. Woods attacked at the bottom of the final climb, I thought it wouldn’t be a problem to catch him but he held on until the finish line. I launched my sprint in the last 100 meters, I got close to him but not enough to pass him and take the victory. However I can be satisfied with how things went today. This podium give me a lot of morale for the next stages with several high mountains," Colbrelli said.
