"I think I made the best possible choice. For me it is a great opportunity, not only from a professional point of view. I will do everything to make the most of it and live up to the expectations. I can't wait to start."

Marco Coledan is ready to turn the page. Following the disappointment at the European Track Championships in Guadeloupe where he finished an anonymous 16th in the individual pursuit - a poor performance compared to last year's World Cup in Cali where he finished fifth and was close to the podium - the former Bardiani rider cannot wait to put this season behind him.

Coledan criticizes his team which has only allowed him to "do 29 races of which 23 took  place before April 3" - a fact that may have played a role in his poor performance on the track last week. "According to them, I was not allowed to race," he tells Gazzetta dello Sport and underlines that his troubles started when he informed his team at the end of Tirreno-Adriatico that he did not want to renew his contract.

Very crictical of the team he is about to leave, the 26-year-old is now ready to turn the page in the Trek Factory Racing jersey which is led by Luca Guercilena who already tried to sign the Italian while he worked for QuickStep in 2008. Back then, a serious accident at the Worlds in Varese made it impossible to move to the Belgian team but this year things worked out, with Giacomo Nizzolo recommending his future teammate.

"I will try to lead Nizzolo out in the sprints," Coledan said. "We raced together as amateurs and know each other by heart. He specifically asked Guercilena to sign me. Other offers? Modolo also wanted me at Lampre-Merida and Viviani wanted me when it seemed that he would be riding for Garmin."

The great adventure for Coledan also includes riding on the same team as a big star like Fabian Cancellara whose presence will be an "incredible stiumulus": Coledan "only wants to learn" and is "ready to steal all the secrets."

"I think I made the best possible choice. For me it is a great opportunity, not only from a professional point of view. I will do everything to make the most of it and live up to the expectations. I can't wait to start."
