The Team Colombia squad is taking more and more shape. The team continues its upgrading and has signed several new riders for the 2014 season. The latest newcomers are Luis Alberto Largo and Rodolfo Andrés Torres Agudelo. With the two talents, the team’s total of new riders is 17.
Luis Largo (Chiquiza, 14.04.1990) is a part of the exciting new generation of Colombian climbers, looking to stand out at the World stage after establishing himself as one of the most intriguing prospects in his Country: after wearing the leader’s jersey for a day at the Vuelta a Colombia, his overall victory at the Vuelta a Cundinamarca – where he also took a stage win – took him under the radar of several team managers. Still, Claudio Corti managed to take the edge and secure one of the key goals for the next Team Colombia.
In addition to Largo, Rodolfo Torres (Duitama, 21.03.1987) lands at Team Colombia, making his way back to Italy after racing there for two years as an amateur in 2008 and 2009. In 2013, Torres managed to take three overall top-5 spots in stage races: 2nd at Vuelta a Tolima, 3rd at Vuelta a Santander (where he also won a stage), and 5th at the Vuelta a Boyaca.
General Manager Claudio Corti is pleased with his latest additions, but is still hunting for the final pieces to look with ambition to the upcoming season: “With Luis Largo, we managed to scoop the competition to seal a really important signing: Luis is a real true-born climber, a talented 1.64-tall man that will reinforce a young and valuable bunch of riders.”
"Anyway, we are still out to add more valuable pieces to our puzzle: we are talking to several athletes, and we are confident we will be even more well-rounded and competitive as we line up for the new season.”
