Having attended the presentation of the 2015 Tour de France, Colombia manager Claudio Corti is pleased with a course that suits the climbers. The Italian hopes that his team will be able to both receive another invitation for the Giro and add a second grand tour to their schedule.

Team Colombia’s General Manager Claudio Corti took part in the 2015 Tour de France presentation today, Wednesday October 22nd, at the Palais des Congres in Paris. The Grande Boucle, taking place from July 4th to 26th, 2015, will start in Utrecht (Netherlands)  and end – as usual in Paris – after going through 5 uphill finishes that look poised to make 2015 the edition one of the toughest in recent memory. Only 14 km of individual time trial, in addition to 28 km in the stage 9 team time trial, will not be much of an obstacle for those climbers aiming for the yellow jersey.

“We had heard of a climber-friendly Tour de France, but the route unveiled today actually surprised me,” Claudio Corti stated, ”and I believe the stages in the Alps are going to be amazing. We are so far away from 5 or 10 years ago, when time trialling always had a huge influence on the yellow jersey: I think a rider like Quintana will be smiling after today’s presentation.”

For the Escarabajos, significantly renewed for 2015 after announcing six new signings in the last few days, a debut in La Grande Boucle is still a goal to fulfil.

“Like we said several times, we would love to get another nod at the Giro d’Italia and possibly add a second Grand Tour to our calendar, but we know how many ambitious professional line-ups will be in the run for the Wild Cards in all of the three GTs. Right now, our priority is completing our line-up in the best possible way, and make a good preparation to hit the ground running in 2015: if we manage to do that, good things will follow.”
