The talents of Colombian cycling continue to attract interest from the most important races on the American continent. This time the national riders have been invited to the Tour de San Luis in Argentina whose ninth edition will be held from January 1 to 25. Thanks to their performances in races like the Tour de l’Avenir, the team led by national coach Carlos Jaramillo will be at the start in the Argentine race.

“I spoke with the president of the federation (Ramiro Valencia Cossio) and he has received the official invitation for the Tour de San Luis. I have talked to a few teams to see who could pay for the riders. Several have already shown interest in contributing to the selection and do a good performance that Colombian cycling deserves,” the national coach said.

He plans to go to the race with a roster that is a mix of young talents and experienced riders.

“Most riders are going to Europe and are still riding here (in Colombia, ed.). We have the Vuelta a la Juventud in April so it should suit many riders and because the Elite National Championships will be in February, they will already be in shape.”

“I have 12 riders and I have to select 6-8,” he added before making it clear that the invitation to San Luis is an opportunity to prepare for the 2015 Worlds in Richmond. “It’s great to show the level of the Colombian teams. It’s also good for the selection of the team for the World Championships, the big goal of the Colombian Cycling Federation.”
