On the back of a solid showing in the Vuelta a Colombia, the Colombia team will return to European action when they line up in the Tour du Limousin. The team will be led by sprinters Leonardo Duque and Edwin Avila on the undulating course.

Two very intense weeks of racing at the Vuelta a Colombia have just come to a close, and Team Colombia will now focus on the final months of the European season. Down in Colombia, the team directed by Claudio Corti and Oliverio Rincon bagged a stage win in the 2nd stage with Jeffry Romero, a number of top-10 placements and 8 days in the leader’s jersey with Miguel Angel Rubiano, from stage 3 to the Alto de Palmas uphill time trial on the penultimate day, after the team showed outstanding compactness and discipline in putting on a huge fight to defend the Tricolor jersey.

General Manager Claudio Corti got back to the decisive moment of the race, stage 10 uphill time trial:

“Miguel probably paid the incredible efforts to defend the jersey, as well as some tension. He is an experienced rider, but never in his career he had to race a time trial with GC responsibility – that’s also a factor to consider. Anyway, it has been a great week in the leader’s jersey, and a very good experience overall for the Team at the Vuelta a Colombia. I think we gave a show of the team’s growth with the European experience, particularly in the dynamics of racing as a team, with discipline and completely focused on the team goals. The guys did a very good job, so they deserve all the praise for this good performance.”

While Vuelta a Colombia’s line-up is making its way back to Europe, another 7-man team directed by Valerio Tebaldi is ready to tackle the 4-day Tour du Limousin, in France (August 19-22). Lining-up at the start in Limoges will be Juan Esteban Arango, Edwin Avila, Edward Diaz, Leonardo Duque, Jonathan Paredes, Duber Quintero and Juan Pablo Valencia.
