Colombia-Coldeportes is ready to make its World Tour season debut in Italy, at Tirreno-Adriatico (March 11-17). The “Race of the Two Seas” will mark its 50th edition, which starts with a team time trial in Lido di Camaiore, continues with a couple of flat stages and two difficult days packed with many climbs, before finishing with the traditional ITT in San Benedetto del Tronto. The highlight of the event will be stage five’s Monte Terminillo, a 21-km long ascent with a 6,6% average gradient, definitely one that will sort things out in the overall classification.
With an impressive field of top-class riders announced at the start in Camaiore, Sports Directors Oscar Pellicioli and Marco Corti have assembled a solid team to live up to the very strong competition. After racing the Gran Premio di Lugano on March 1st, Alex Cano,Fabio Duarte, Carlos Quintero and Miguel Angel Rubiano will line-up for the “Race of the Two Seas”, where they will be joined byEdwin Avila, Camilo Castiblanco, Walter Pedraza and Brayan Ramirez.
Although this is going to be the team’s first World Tour event of the year, General Manager Claudio Corti hopes his riders will make themselves noticed, no matter what the terrain will be, and deserve the trust of RCS Sport organizers: “Tirreno-Adriatico is a very prestigious and demanding race, and the start list is impressive, so it will be an important experience for the whole team. We will be looking to honor the invitation in every stage, as we have a well-rounded team that will look to be in the very thick of the action on a daily basis.”
