It was a great Giro del Trentino for Nippo-Vini Fantini. In the final stage, Alessandro Bisolti finished fourth and team leader Damiano Cunego was fifth in the overall standings, the second best Italian rider in the race.
After a good team time trial, Damiano Cunego demonstrated his condition with a third place in the second stage. One day later he was fifth which was enough to earn fifth overall. Today was the day for Alessandro Bisolti who was part of 7-rider break before ending the stage in 4th.
In the GC, Damiano Cunego is the best Nippo-Vini Fantini rider. It was also a good job by young Iuri Filosi on his home roads as was twice on the attack and there were good signals from Giacomo Berlato and a great Alessandro Bisolti.
“At the finish line I was angry for the missed opportunity, but now I’m really happy about this action," Bisolti said. "Two years ago I was without a bike, without a team, working on roofs. If I think about this, I can be really happy to be here with such a good result. But it is just a starting point for me. I want to thank Damiano Cunego who supported me and told me to get into this escape and gave me this chance."
General Manager Francesco Pelosi is excited after the Giro del Trentino. “I was expecting some signals from the team looking forward to our two most important races in the spring calendar: the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Japan. Well, this is much more than a signal, it is a great confirmation. Damiano Cunego's performance during these days have warmed all the hearts of all fans, our young talents told us that they are ready to compete at this level and Alessandro Bisolti proved to be a new rider, both to support Damiano and to be a good rider for stages like this one."
