After three good years at Wanty-Groupe Gobert, Jempy Drucker deserved to make the move to the WorldTour. At BMC, the Luxembourger easily adapted to the higher level and did a strong season which he crowned with his first pro victory.
"I've been consistent all year and did what was expected of me, both as a domestique and when I rode for myself,” he told radsport-news.com.
His highlight was clearly the victory at the Prudential Ride London (1.HC).However, sixth place at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne (1.1), a third place in a stage at the Tour of California (2.HC) and a third place in a stage of the Eneco Tour were also solid results.
At the Vuelta a Espana, he finally got his first chance in a grand tour. The 29-year-old who won the neutralized TTT with his BMC team on the opening day, got two fourth places in the first week and managed a third place on the final day. "To finish my first grand tour was something special,” said Drucker who was optimistic when he travelled to the US for the Worlds. However, the Luxembourger had to abadon after a crash more than 80 kilometers from the finish. "That was really the only big disappointment this year, "he confessed.
In his second WorldTour season, Drucker wants to stay healthy and injury-free and continue his development. "Then the rest will come by itself," said the BMC professional who wants to again be strong in the spring, both as a domestique for Greg Van Avermaet and as a captain.
